My Comments on Some Physics P1 Questions:

Q 30: The answer is D. More than twice before, 'telescope at normal adjustment' was tested in SPM:
          * In 2005 P2 Q11(a)(iii) - diagram @ pg. 387 of Past-Yr Papers 2005-2012 - D;
          * In 2006 P2 Q9(c)(i) - diagram @ pg. 393 of Past-Yr Papers 2005-2012 - D; and,
          * see also pg. 299 of Oxford-Fajar (2013 Ed.) Fig 5.67 for telescope - Answer D!

Q32: The answer is D. Reason:

"As water waves enter shallower region (at headland first, then only the bay), their speed slows down with the shortening of wavelength (again at headland first, then only the bay) without any change in wave frequency. This refraction of water waves results in the wavefronts  taking the shape of the shoreline with wavelengths (distance between successive wavefronts) at the headland shorter than their corresponding wavelengths at the bay as shown by the diagram. At the bay, wave energy is spread-out over longer wavefronts resulting in calmer sea due to dispersal of wave energy. Answer: D

48 is supposed to be A. Option for E is actually not avialable for physics paper 1

Q48: At the end of 30 minutes (A), only 7/16 [=(1/4) + (1/4)(3/4)] of the radioactive substance has decayed. It takes another 6 minutes+ to decay a further 1/16 to reach half-life. Half-life = 36 minutes+. Therefore, Q48 has no acceptable answers. Click on the link Q48 E in the table of answers to see my write-up on Q48. Thk you.

why answer of Q32 is not B?
energy is focused at headland is true and wavelength at bay is shorter is also correct because bay is shallower.

Q32 Answer D. Reason:

"When the wavefronts approach the shoreline, they reach the headland (cape) earlier than the bay because the cape represents the protruding part of the shoreline that becomes shallow earlier than the bay.
Therefore, the water waves near the headland or cape slow down first - thus, their wavelength becomes smaller or wavefronts become closer near the cape while those approaching the bay are still having greater wavelength and their wavefronts are still further apart i.e longer and NOT shorter. Ans. B is wrong; D is correct. :)
